SVU is seeking applicants for a total of up to five available Director positions. The Board is seeking applicants who have demonstrated experience:
- Convening conferences;
- Implementing an organizational strategic plan;
- In a leadership role in the publication of medical journals;
- And/or setting up a Research Foundation.
Technologist Directors- 3 positions. Each of these is for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2018, through Dec. 31, 2020. The Governance Committee will review all qualified applications, interview select candidates, and select three finalists to be presented to the Board of Directors for election.
Eligibility for Technologist Directors: Technologist Directors must be:
- Active SVU members
- Have achieved and maintained a professional credential in vascular technology.
In addition, the primary employment activity of Technologists must be one of the following:
- Performance of noninvasive vascular testing,
- Supervision of noninvasive vascular personnel,
- Management of a noninvasive vascular testing or diagnostic facility
- Education or training in the field of vascular technology
An individual whose primary employer is a corporate vendor of ultrasound hardware, software or supplies is not eligible to serve as a Technologist Director.
“At-Large Directors”- 2 positions.
The remaining two openings are for ‘At Large’ one-year positions for 2018. While there are no specific eligibility requirements, the Board is seeking diverse, accomplished candidates with a demonstrated blend of skills and experience (see top paragraph above) to supplement our Board and staff efforts as we move the organization forward. The Governance Committee will review all qualified applications and may consider other candidates based on the needs of the organization, and will conduct interviews. Two finalists will be presented to the Board of Directors for election.
Process and Deadline:
Applicants for the Technologist Director and At- Large Director positions must complete the online Board Application and submit along with a Resume (CV) and Letter of Reference by 11 PM EST, Monday May 15, 2017.
Applicants should indicate on their application for which Director position they wish to be considered. Eligible individuals may be considered for both categories, using a single application.
Obligations:
All applicants, regardless of which Director slot they fill, must be able to travel to two in-person meetings, one in winter and one in summer (the day prior to the SVU Annual Conference), as well as two or more conference calls during the year. Directors serve as Liaisons to and members of various SVU Committees, Board task forces, and allied organizations; set the strategic vision and plan for the organization; provide guidance and feedback to the Executive Director and staff; prepare for meetings by reviewing documents and providing feedback; and aid in the governance of the organization. Directors are expected to actively participate and contribute to the organization year-round.
