Getting from "A" to "B" at Disney World

Hello once again!

Now that the conference is closer and we have all of our flights/ travel arrangements to the hotel and our tickets to Disney World purchased, the next obstacle to tackle is getting to Disney World. Because there is a lot to see and do during your time outside of the conference, you will want to be fully informed on all of the best ways of getting around. There are numerous options for guests to get from place to place. Here are just a few of them:

Walking:

While walking may not be the first choice for most of you, it is definitely an option. Depending on where you are staying, you may be as far from some of the Disney parks as 11 miles...or as close as 1 mile. For more information on walking from your hotel to the various parks, this handy website will list the various distances for you.

Walt Disney World Monorail:

Running since 1971, the Walt Disney World Monorail is a great way to travel between the Disney hotels and Disney parks. This is a completely FREE option for all guests, regardless of whether you are staying at a Disney hotel. The monorail has varied times of operation depending on where you are trying to get to, which typically falls roughly an hour before or an hour after the park/attraction closes. The monorail has two different routes. The first route goes to the Magic Kingdom Park, Disney's Contemporary Resort, Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The second monorail line stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center, as well as the Epcot. The one thing to be aware of for those of you using the monorail to get around is that it does not start operation until 8:30 am, so you will probably want to take the bus to get to the conference in the mornings, which start operating at an earlier time.

Disney World Bus:

This is a fantastic option for those of you attending the conference early before the monorail starts up but are staying at different hotels. The Disney World buses run every 20 minutes from each of the Disney Resorts. These buses start operation approximately an hour before the park opens and an hour after closing. For late night adventures, the Downtown Disney bus starts around 8:30am and runs until 2:00am. Because the monorail doesn't open until later in the morning, the bus will begin operation at 7:00 am and will route between the Contemporary Disney Resort, Transportation Center, Polynesian Resort, Grand Floridian Resort and the Magic Kingdom on a continuous loop.

Disney Water Boats:

While there are no direct routes to the Contemporary Resort or from the Polynesian Resort, there are a multitude of water taxis and boats that can transport you between the different parks and the areas surrounding the major Disney resorts. While these would not be practical for getting to and from the conference, they may be a fun adventure for after hours.

Taxi:

For those who want a quick and easy way to get to and from the conference and/or Disney Parks, there is no better way than using a conventional taxi. The Polynesian Resort is a breezy 5 minute drive to the Disney Contemporary Resort. There are many cab companies to pick from. For a few examples visit this website.
